Semiconductor package is a kind of carrier / case for containing and covering one or more semiconductor components or integrated circuits. The material of the casing can be metal (Cu, Al, W, Mo), plastic, glass, or ceramic (Al2O3). After the semiconductor component core or integrated circuit is etched from the wafer and cut into independent grains, one or more grains and the semiconductor package are assembled or potted into a single body during the integrated circuit packaging stage.

The semiconductor package provides a certain impact / scratch protection for the grain, and provides pins or contacts for connecting the   grain    with external circuits, helping to remove the heat generated by grain    when it's   working.
